Many of you might have seen on the news where severe storms along with extreme tornadoes hit the states of Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. You always see it on the news, your heart goes out to those effected, but its different when it hits right in your own community.

40 miles away in Macon Co. Tennessee, an F2 tornado 3/4 of a mile wide raged through the county at around 10:30 Tuesday night, killing at least 13 people with around that many missing. 200 Families are homeless, most of the county is still without running water or electricity.

A bitter sweet moment happend to one of our own MyRacePage.com members. Wilson County EMT David Harmond as he along with other emergency crews searched for survivors shortly after the tornado struck. David found what he thought was a doll, but turned out to be a baby in a field. He quickly grabbed the baby to check for a pulse, when it let out a cry. My hat off to you David, and everyone thats helped and helping in this time of need. THANK YOU.

Evidently someone in Castalian Springs feels very stroungly about what David did, they are one of the ones that nominated him. Our very own harmond has been nominated for America's Most Wanted's 2008 All Star Contest for his bravery, and dedication durring the February 2008 tornados. Tell all your friends to vote for him at this link

You have no idea how embarrassed David was to read the posts here. I'm very proud of him myself (so are daddysangel and codeman), but he's so the reluctant hero. I think meeting Kyson and his family were a better reward for him than meeting the Prez!!! ~emt724

David Got to meet the President today while he was in town surveying the distruction left behind by this tornado. The clip was shown on News Channel 5's web site. Way to go Big Daddy! He may be a Wilson County Hero, but, he's my hero every Saturday night when we race. Thats the man who keeps me safe.
